The final day of competition in Athens, Greece, was graced by wonderful sailing conditions, bringing brilliance to the 2024 ILCA Senior European Championships & Open European Trophy.
The ILCA 6 Women’s Medalists
Maria Erdi of Hungary clinched her first-ever European championship title, adding to her accolades as the reigning World champion from the previous year in The Hague. This marks her second European medal, following her bronze achievement in Andora, Italy, in 2023. Securing victory in the Medal Race, she concluded the championship with 21 points after seven races.
Viktorija Andrulyte of Lithuania secured second place with 27 points, earning the Silver medal along with qualification for Paris 2024.
The Bronze medal went to French sailor Louise Cervera, who amassed 29 points.
Croatia’s Elena Vorobeva finished fourth overall, clinching the second Olympic spot at stake in this championship.

The ILCA 7 European Medalists
Today, the ILCA 7 fleet completed three races, bringing the total trials for the championship to eight.
Finnish sailor Valtteri Uusitalo made an impressive debut as a Senior European medalist, clinching the Gold prize by finishing atop the fleet after eight races with a total of 42 points.
Hungarian sailor Jonatan Vadnai and Irish sailor Finn Lynch secured the Silver and Bronze medals respectively, both tied with 46 points. This marks Jonatan’s second Senior Europeans medal, following his Bronze win in 2021, while it’s Finn’s first Senior European prize in his career.
In terms of the Olympic spots at stake, Omer Vered Vilenchik and Zan Luka Zelko emerged as the winners, securing the ILCA 7 tickets for Israel and Slovenia in Paris 2024.

Local sailors asserted their dominance on the ILCA 6 Men’s podiums, as Marios Stathas, Vassilis Koukodis, and Nikolas Komianos secured the Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals, respectively, in both the overall and Under 21 European categories.
